Kinetic: A powerhouse in technological innovation

Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.

It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, high performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially available watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).

In 1998, Kinetic Auto Relay was released, extending the 'at-rest' operating period of the watch to a remarkable 4 years. 1999 saw the launch of the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, a masterpiece which fused the very best of SEIKO's mechanical and electronic watch making skills, and in 2003 another Kinetic Chronograph was launched. At Baselworld 2005, the Kinetic Perpetual made its first appearance, combining Kinetic convenience and longevity with a perpetual calendar, correct to the year 2100. In 2007, SEIKO's emotional technology Kinetic Direct Drive is introduced.

Great Watch
This is a great professional looking watch. Easy to set and it feels comfortable on the arm.


master piece of craftsmanship
I purchased this watch on Amazon after visiting various retails in person and looking at hundreds of watches. If you like a two tone stainless steel watch, there is no other watch in the market that can even come close to the beauty of this watch. Its a master piece of craftsmanship, the dial of this watch is very captivating with its while color and gold accents. I have owned it for a month now and have got so many complements about it. Seiko watches are known for their reliability and longevity. I am hoping I will be using it for a very long time from now. Once I saw the battery save / wake up feature where the hour and minute hands rotate themselves to display the exact time, I knew I made the right decision.

Overview it is a great watch so far. The only thing that is this watch weakness is that the watch night ligh crystal needs to be a little bigger. Current;y, it is hard to read in a dark place.

Outstanding value with a lot of class.....
I've owned this watch almost one year and it is without question my favorite watch. I own several, but this one is reserved for special occasions. It's a heavy, durable and stylish with the look and feel of much more expensive watches. My only complaint is sometimes I have to look closely to see the time (hour and minute hands). They have a tendency to blend in with the background. You might think I should consider this a big flaw, not always being able to quickly see the time on a watch; but it's so much fun to wear that I really don't care. I would definitely buy it again!
