Kinetic: A powerhouse in technological innovation

Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.

It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, high performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially available watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).

In 1998, Kinetic Auto Relay was released, extending the 'at-rest' operating period of the watch to a remarkable 4 years. 1999 saw the launch of the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, a masterpiece which fused the very best of SEIKO's mechanical and electronic watch making skills, and in 2003 another Kinetic Chronograph was launched. At Baselworld 2005, the Kinetic Perpetual made its first appearance, combining Kinetic convenience and longevity with a perpetual calendar, correct to the year 2100. In 2007, SEIKO's emotional technology Kinetic Direct Drive is introduced.

Outstanding value with a lot of class.....
I've owned this watch almost one year and it is without question my favorite watch. I own several, but this one is reserved for special occasions. It's a heavy, durable and stylish with the look and feel of much more expensive watches. My only complaint is sometimes I have to look closely to see the time (hour and minute hands). They have a tendency to blend in with the background. You might think I should consider this a big flaw, not always being able to quickly see the time on a watch; but it's so much fun to wear that I really don't care. I would definitely buy it again!

A men's watch that ladies like & most way cool
I have now owned and scrutinized this watch for close to 4 months now and it is still amazing to me. The face is elegant and easily read. It keeps accurate time in a unique manner. It is 100meters W.R. so it is safe in rainy weather. Over all this is a heck of a watch. This puppy needs a home so give it one today... I love the style and feel of this watch. Check out the stats for yourself then get one a.s.a.p. so you do not miss out.

Not this model, but...
Someone rated this watch poorly, but I suspect they didn't understand how the "Kinetic" mechanism works. They said the watch didn't hold a charge and was unreliable. Ok, they might've received a bad one (I doubt it) thanks in part to a relatively low cost, mass produced time piece. My suspicion is they didn't wear it enough and that's why you'll find watch "rotators" for sale.

I don't own this particular model, but I felt compelled to defend Seiko's products. I own three different Seiko Kinetics, one of which is over twelve years old and still going strong! I admit my old one doesn't hold a charge like it used to. After wearing it every day for a few weeks (to build a solid charge), I could leave it alone for over a week without an affect. these days it only lasts two days before dying. I've never taken it in for a cleaning or adjustment. I've also banged it around quite a bit over the years and have dropped it on concrete a couple times, so that might be part of it. I'm extremely happy with my Seiko Kinetics! I saw a really nice looking new model the other day...hmm...early Christmas present to myself??? Hahaha!

Don't listen to the nay sayers! Never having to take your watch in for battery replacement is a godsend! No fuss, no muss, just wear it and forget it! Seiko's Kinetic watches are GREAT!!! They take a licking and keep on...oops, that's someone else's slogan, hahaha!

Just remember, you gotta wear it a lot to give it a good charge. Or buy one-a them rotator doohickies, hahaha!

Great Watch
This is a great high quality watch. It is heavy and well-built and looks great. Nothing cheap at all about the look and feel of this watch. Mine has the white background with gold hands. The hands are luminescent and easy to read at night but the small print of the smaller dials can be hard to read in bright light, especially for someone over forty. Overall this is an excellent watch that I've worn for 3 months now. If you are concerned about reading the small dials in bright light, consider a version with a darker background, such as black.

very nice product!!
I think this is a beautiful watch---it is heavy but in a quality way--thicker than most watches but long sleeve shirts will still fit over it---i am pushing 60 years old---the old eyesight isn't what it used to be---my only complaint is that the gold watch hands don't show up as well as i would like against the white background of the face---i went to a retail store to see the watch in person before i bought it--took my wife with me---this watch comes in two color/models---i liked it with the silver and black dial(snp007)---i could see it better and it was an 007 (i guess i've seen too many Bond movies in my life)---my wife thought this gold and white dial was more elegant---i think i would prefer readability over elegance but i still love this watch---have had many compliments on it---including my wife---so it must be the watch for me!!

Take a test drive at a retail store--Macy's has a large selection of Seikos but not all stores carry all models--call first!!
